Extra Credit

Due 4/13

Please choose one of the following extra credit assignments. Please be aware that extra credit will not be accepted after the due date.you will be graded upon effort, not because of the fact that you did it.

Design a poster (20 points)

Article one of the Declaration of Human Rights states:

That all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. Article two continues that this is "without distinction of any kind, such as race, color, sex or language, religion, political or other opinion."
John locke stated that everyone has the natural rights of "life, liberty, and property."
Design a poster/collage that shows both images of what human rights are in a democratic government and how they could be violated in a totalitarian government. Your poster should represent people from every race and color, as well as the right a person has in every day life.
Identify those rights in two paragraphs explaining what your rights are and what they mean for a healthy society.

Ethnic Conflicts Today (15 points)


Read newspapers to research and describe current world conflicts, in which race or ethnic differences are exploited to promote hatred and genocide.
Write two paragraphs explaining how it does this and your own opinion about the article.

Holocaust Movie (10 points)

In class we are studying about the holocaust. /watch a movie on your own and type one paragraph summarizing the movie and another paragraph giving your own critique on the move. Note: Any student that copies information from the web or a friend will receive no credit. You may be quizzed by Ms. Rubinger about your knowledge of the movie.
Some movies: Schindler's List, The Grey Zone, The Pianist, Amen, Anne Frank, Life is Beautiful, Defiance, Night of House and Fog, Boy in the Stripped Pajamas.

Hooray 4 second semester!

Students, this is your chance to start with a clean slate.  Make this semester a more successful semester.
This website will post all the work for this class.  Including journals, classwork, and homework.
If you are absent, make sure you check this site to keep you right on track.

Also... 
Remember new changes to the class:
No late homework is allowed to be turned in after ten days. (weekends included)
Paper pickup will be given to students on Fridays, failure to do this will have a school detention.
There is a zero tolerance policy for cellphones, ipods, video games or any other electrical devices, and make-up/beauty products.  Any of these items will be taken and given to G1.
